History

The Club was formed in 1985 and was based at Henry Gotch Senior School in Kettering. At that time the coaches, Marie & Dave Mitchell, had been coaching gymnastics for seven years at a club based in Rushden. They became aware that there was a need for a club in the Kettering area and, therefore, formed the Kettering Olympic Gymnastics Club. Their interest in the sport developed from both of their daughters being gymnasts.

During it's time at Henry Gotch, the Club bought all it's own equipment and in 1993 moved to the Kettering Leisure Village where the Sports Council had financed a specialist area for gymnastics. On moving to the Village, it was soon obvious that, although our equipment was of a high standard, it was not sufficient for our up and coming gymnasts needs, so we began to fundraise and with the help of a Grant from the National Lottery, we were able to update our equipment to National Standards. The facilities in the Club are one of the best in Northamptonshire. In November 2003 we moved away from the Kettering Leisure Village and in May 2004, opened our own training centre in Brunel Close. This centre is purely for our Club and all of the equipment is laid out permanently.
